Best Eateries and Cafes in Edinburgh
Cafe Edinburgh
With its name and decor, this café exudes a distinctly Scottish vibe, but we only discovered after paying that it’s actually owned by Turks. The owners kindly mentioned that they would have offered us a discount if they’d known. Located on High Street, a central and lively area, the café is perfectly positioned for both locals and visitors. As we explored the neighborhood, we compared the Fish & Chips dishes from nearby spots, and the plates at this café clearly stood out as the most appealing. After enjoying our meal, we were certain we’d made the right choice—delicious food in a great location.
Artisan Roast Coffee Roasters
Located between Stockbridge and Calton Hill, Artisan Coffee offers not only excellent coffee but also a vibrant atmosphere that captures the essence of the city. The staff, always stylish and welcoming, contribute to the laid-back yet trendy vibe of the place.
It’s the kind of spot that locals frequently visit, and it’s easy to see why. One of the charming quirks of Artisan Coffee is the sign on the wall that reads, “J.K. Rowling never wrote here.” It adds a playful touch to the café’s already unique character. The walls are adorned with eye-catching posters, offering details on upcoming events and making it clear that this isn’t just a place to grab a coffee—it’s a community hub. Whether you’re enjoying your morning brew or meeting up with friends, Artisan Coffee offers an inviting space to relax, work, or simply soak in the local culture.
Mamma’s Edinburgh
Located in the charming Grassmarket Square, Mamma’s is a delightful spot for a casual meal. We decided to try their pizza and burgers, and both dishes were deliciously satisfying!
The square itself isn’t overly crowded, offering a peaceful atmosphere, and it’s surrounded by a variety of other cozy cafés and eateries, making it a perfect spot to explore. Like many of the places we visited, Mamma’s offers moderate prices, making it an affordable choice for a tasty meal in a lively yet relaxed setting. Whether you’re enjoying the food or simply soaking in the atmosphere, it’s a spot worth stopping by.
