Best Cafes in Lisbon
Cafe da Garagem
The only downside of Cafe da Garagem is that it opens a bit late, so you should definitely check before going. Oh, and it’s also on a hilly street, but since it’s located close to the tourist spots, you’ll likely find yourself nearby while exploring.
The ambiance inside is charming, with a long table set along a large glass window, offering stunning views of Lisbon while you enjoy your coffee. I celebrated my birthday here with coffee and a slice of cake that was so delicious we were tempted to order the special cake of the week—but managed to resist! They also offer food options, and for those who prefer the fresh air, there’s a lovely balcony-like area for outdoor seating.

Oh Brigadeiro
If you’re heading to LXFactory, and I think you should, this is one of the cafés I spotted. When we entered Oh Brigadeiro, we were captivated by the sweet smell of the desserts. Even though we were heading to Belem for pastries and were full from breakfast, I couldn’t resist eating the little pistachio treats. Should I have resisted? Maybe, because they were so delicious that I wanted to try everything in the display—everything looked amazing. Later, Semoş convinced me we’d come back, but we never did. Sad face 🙁

Janis Cafe
We also visited Janis Cafe, where the dimly lit interior created a cozy and romantic ambiance. While we opted for coffee, it turned out to be a bit too strong for our taste, making it a better spot for drinks or cocktails. According to Google reviews, many people prefer this cafe for lunch, dinner, or a stylish evening with cocktails.

Alcoa
Other than these places, we also tried award-winning desserts at Alcoa. While the nut cake was flavorful, it felt a bit dry, and our decision to skip coffee left us slightly underwhelmed. As for the other dessert we tried (its name escapes me), we struggled to understand how it earned its award, but taste is always subjective. The seating is quite limited, with only a few stools by the window, so it’s more of a quick-stop spot than a place to linger.
