The Most Beautiful Doors in Barcelona
A new trend has emerged in Barcelona under the hashtag #doorsofbarcelona, where people share photos of the city’s beautiful doors. In areas like Gràcia and Eixample, the buildings are already stunning, and naturally, so are their doors. Once you start looking up at the facades while walking, it’s hard to stop—Barcelona’s architectural charm pulls you in at every turn.
I set out to find a few specific doors I had seen on Instagram. The most impressive was in front of Marea Verde – Laboratori Botànic, a florist whose entrance is adorned with flowers. The door itself is beautiful, but the side facade is even more captivating, as seen in the photo above.
Farmàcia Nordbeck stood out with its intricate wooden door, but the most striking pharmacy door belonged to Farmàcia Jordi Bolòs Giralt.
The green facade of Casa Pere Brias at 439 Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes caught my eye. Its door is also lovely, but I could only admire it from across the street as I didn’t have time to visit. At Casa Xina (Casa Ferran Guardiola), it was the building itself, rather than the door, that impressed me. Meanwhile, Casa Pàdua has both an exquisite structure and a charming door, though I skipped visiting it as I didn’t have any other plans in that area.
On Carrer de Roger de Llúria, near L’Embruix Tatuatges, you’ll find the door of Casa Cabot. The intricate details on the upper part of the door are especially worth seeing. On the other hand, Casa Puig i Cadafalch didn’t make a lasting impression, as I’ve seen far more striking doors elsewhere.
Lastly, Casa Planells is a unique and unconventional building, but I felt it didn’t blend well with Barcelona’s overall aesthetic. The door didn’t feel particularly special to me either; in fact, I double-checked photos to ensure I was in the right place!
